From there, a game called ‘primero’ took off in Spain and, not long after, became ‘poque’ in 1600s France. At the time, the game resembled a mix of dominoes and cards before it moved west along the Silk Road. Some argue that poker began in the 10th century in China. However, not many know that the game’s origins stretch back millennia.

The game is played around the world, from Macau to Atlantic City, as well as in plenty of informal friendly circles. For example, poker is one of the most popular card games.
